LEAVING ‘BAMA
Mercredi (Wednsday) 1 Novembre Some things don’t always connect when you have a lot on your plate. For instance, it took a Honda Minivan, Nissan Armada, and a Toyota Highlander to get our luggage to the Huntsville airport but on the other end we had ONE Nissan X-Trail SUV to haul it away. Catherine, at the Sixt Rental Car agency had to lower her glasses a little as she scanned the 3 large luggage buggies overflowing. “All of that is yours?” Yes, Catherine. Well, she told me it would be a struggle, and it was. She did make Lydia and I two espresso shots to give us more energy! She also sent me a place where she said the fries were WAY better than we can get in America! Sterling and Bella sat on one seat back folded down in the middle row. If I looked in my rear view mirror all I saw was a black wall. It worked and we made it…
NOUVEAU CHOSE..THIS IS ¨NEW THINGS¨ IN FRENCH
We started noticing subtle differences before we left Atlanta. Line forming is sometimes referred to as the Wedge. We experienced this first hand when we were boarding Delta flight 88 to Paris. As the time of boarding was nearing a bunch of people moved into a big wedge formation. It was wide enough to just about block off the entire terminal walkway. We decided to participate…We had a couple in front of us, the man definitely an American (Bulldogs cap) and the lady from Southeast Asia? She started moving through the Wedge like a knife through hot butter. He kept apologizing to everyone they had cut off in his thick Southern accent! The future passengers seemed unfazed. Maybe they showed us how to quickly move through a Wedge…Just start walking, and let your Spouse apologize!? The Wedge works however, as we approached the ticket agent the it narrowed and finally went to single file. And nobody got angry! Very courteous in their confusion…
A few surprises…As we were walking to our gate at Huntsville the news about SW getting AI in chicken flock was not good news. As we flew over the Atlantic a wind was pushing the Airbus 330 over 700mph. As we approached Paris we had up to 100mph crosswinds as we approached. As we landed the plane erupted in clapping and the announcer got on and said we just experienced a perfect landing in the wind by the World’s best pilot…The French people have all been very friendly to us. A little counter to what we had been told. Bonjour is the key? It’s greener here than I thought it would be this time of year. I even spotted a tropical plant growing by the roadside (like a banana). Weather feels like Seattle…McDonald’s for supper…http://Restaurants.McDonalds.fr
